TOUR: Crowd Surf America Tour
DATES: 7/23/2014 - 8/24/2014
Typically I use my website format to post galleries from tours but my good friend Tom Falcone does it this way and I love it so I’m stealing it. I want to be able to write words and document more details! So here goes nothing. The Crowd Surf America Tour.
Let me begin by summing up my summer for you. I had been on the Vans Warped Tour June 12th - July 16th. One of the, if not THE, best experiences of my life. I left Warped Tour the morning of Cincinnati, flew to Houston, TX to meet up with Craig Owens for his Texas Acoustic Tour (which was an amazing experience), did four shows in a row and then the morning of the 21st we left Dallas and flew to Cleveland for the AP awards. The AP awards were an insane experience. That night the Chiodos guys and I drove back up to Flint, MI and the 22nd was straight tour prep. We then left the morning of the 23rd, drove to Springfield, MO for our tour kickoff show.
To say the least, I haven’t had a real day off until now as I type this blog at 2:00AM CST in Chicago, IL. It’s been absolutely crazy. That’s right - I’m HOME! Unfortunately Chiodos had to drop off the rest of the Crowd Surf America Tour due to some medical issues. So I’m writing this blog for you guys in attempt to document what the last few months have been. Had I known I would be doing the blog format this way, I would have documented way more about my personal adventures. But I promise I’ll be doing that on Parks and Recreation tour (which I leave for on the 3rd).
Over the course of the tour I found myself mentally pushing limits. All of this still feels so new to me and I never expected everything to snowball as fast as it has. I’m thankful for all of the opportunities and friends I have made over the course of this year but it’s been so go, go, go I feel like I haven’t had a minute to take in everything. I guess it’s a reminder to keep my head on straight and stay in a good mental state. I can’t explain how it feels to be on the road all the time. It’s where I want to be but for some reason it just took a toll on me these last few weeks. It was so hard for me. I felt completely in a daze more of the time. I don’t know why or how but I only say this because I’m never going to put on a false face on the internet. That’s just weird. I had a very long talk with a fellow member of my camp and they put everything into perspective for me. After I snapped out of it I started producing some of my favorite work to date. It really goes to show how strong relationships are on the road.
BUT to stay on the positive side of things, The Crowd Surf America Tour was a great time but to be completely honest it went way too fast and it all feels like a blur to me right now. I met so many great people and made new friends. Created some of my favorite work with Chiodos as well. So be prepared for your internet to cry when you load the photos I’m about to show you all.
Here are some of my favorite images from Crowd Surf America Tour. AKA the longest hash tagged tour ever AKA some venues wouldn’t even allow crowd surfing tour. #CrowdSurfAmericaTour
